Golf Holidays in Morocco
Golfing in Morocco
Morocco is situated at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The country serves as a gateway to the African continent and the entry point to Europe from Africa. Morocco is a constitutional monarchy, with King Mohammed VI having ascended the throne in 1999. The capital city is Rabat, located along the Bou Regreg River, while Casablanca is the largest and most important city in the country.
In recent years, Morocco has become an increasingly popular travel destination for people from around the world. With year-round sunshine and a climate ideally suited to tourism, the country offers excellent conditions for visitors. As a golf destination, Morocco has also made a strong name for itself, now featuring over twenty golf courses.
We offer golf holidays to Agadir, Marrakech, Casablanca, and Essaouira, with Agadir being one of the most visited destinations during the winter months thanks to its mild climate.
Climate in Morocco
The climate in Morocco is highly diverse. Due to the country's varied landscapes, the climate differs significantly from region to region. Morocco features several climate zones, including desert, Mediterranean, and steppe climates. In the mountainous regions, it’s even possible to go skiing.
The northern coastal area has a Mediterranean climate, making it especially popular with tourists. Even in winter, you can enjoy a pleasant holiday here, as temperatures rarely drop below 18°C.
The western part of Morocco is also warm, bordering largely on the Sahara Desert. The desert climate in this region ensures high temperatures throughout the year, making it an attractive destination for sun-seekers in all seasons.
Golf in Morocco: sunshine, culture and world-class golf
Do you dream of a golf holiday with reliable sunshine, challenging golf courses and an exotic atmosphere just a few hours’ flight from Belgium? Then Morocco definitely deserves a place at the top of your list.
This versatile golf destination combines modern resorts with ancient culture, impressive landscapes and warm hospitality. You play among palm trees, the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, desert scenery and the Atlantic Ocean. After your round, you can enjoy luxury hotels, traditional riads, refined cuisine, wellness facilities and Morocco’s unique charm.
But a golf trip to Morocco involves more than a beautiful hotel and a few green fees. The right flight, suitable tee times, golf luggage, transfers and hotel choice make all the difference. That is why Golf Direct puts together every trip personally.
“We are not the cheapest. But we do want to be the best and most personal golf travel provider.”
Why choose golf in Morocco?
In recent years, Morocco has developed into one of Europe’s most popular golf destinations. Thanks to its pleasant climate, you can play golf there almost all year round. Spring, autumn and winter in particular offer golfers ideal conditions, with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures.
The combination of excellent golf courses, high-quality accommodation and a relatively short journey makes Morocco especially attractive. The country also offers a unique blend of Arab, Berber and French influences, adding an extra dimension to every golf holiday.
From the lively souks of Marrakech to the wide beaches of Agadir and the elegant coastline of Casablanca, every region has its own character.
Designed by golfers
Golf Direct does not sell trips to destinations that only look impressive in photographs. Hans and the team regularly visit the golf resorts they offer and play many of the courses themselves. As a result, they know exactly which hotels best suit the needs of different golfers.
After all, a golf holiday is not only about the quality of the course. Practical matters also determine the success of the trip. How long is the transfer from the airport? Which courses are close to the hotel? Are the preferred tee times available? What are the options for a rental car or private transfer?
Golf Direct looks at the complete picture so that you can enjoy your holiday without any worries.
“Because we are golfers ourselves, we know what matters to our customers.”
Golf in Marrakech: sunshine, luxury and views of the Atlas Mountains
Would you like to play golf under the Moroccan sun, with the impressive Atlas Mountains in the background? Then Marrakech is an excellent destination for a complete golf holiday.
Numerous well-maintained golf courses surround the city. Each course has its own character, ranging from classic layouts among mature palm trees to modern courses in vast desert landscapes.
After your round, enjoy a refreshing swim, a traditional hammam or an atmospheric dinner in the medina. Golf in Marrakech combines sport, relaxation, culture and gastronomy in a way that few other destinations can match.
Golf Direct puts together your trip personally. Flights, hotel, transfers, golf luggage, green fees and tee times are carefully coordinated.
“Everything should be arranged so that our customers only have to enjoy themselves.”
Why play golf in Marrakech?
Marrakech has been a popular destination among golfers for many years. This is not only because of its pleasant climate.
The city is relatively easy to reach from Belgium and offers a wide selection of golf courses, luxury hotels and restaurants. This means you can play several different courses during one stay without having to travel long distances every day.
The surroundings make every round special. On clear days, you can see the peaks of the Atlas Mountains rising above the fairways. Palm trees, olive groves and red-coloured earth create a typically Moroccan setting.
There is also plenty to discover away from the golf course. Visit the lively souks, wander through historic palaces and gardens or relax in a hammam.
Marrakech is therefore not only attractive to golfers, but also to partners or travelling companions who do not want to play every day.
Marrakech is undoubtedly Morocco’s best-known golf region. The city combines historic charm with modern luxury and offers an impressive range of golf courses.
Assoufid Golf Club
Assoufid Golf Club is considered one of the most highly regarded golf courses in North Africa. Set against the impressive backdrop of the Atlas Mountains, the course combines a natural desert environment with perfectly maintained fairways and greens.
Strategic bunkers, rolling fairways and spectacular views make every round special.
Royal Golf Marrakech
Royal Golf Marrakech is one of Morocco’s oldest golf clubs and is steeped in history. The course has welcomed numerous international celebrities and is known for its centuries-old trees, wide fairways and peaceful atmosphere.
This course combines tradition with a relaxed playing experience.
Al Maaden Golf Resort
Al Maaden Golf Resort features a modern design in which water features, palm trees and contemporary architecture play a central role. The course requires accuracy and strategic play, while its surroundings create an exclusive atmosphere.
Golf in Agadir
For golfers who love the Atlantic coast, Agadir is an excellent choice. The region enjoys a mild climate throughout the year and offers several high-quality golf courses.
Golf du Soleil
Golf du Soleil offers two different 18-hole courses that appeal to both recreational and experienced golfers. The combination of eucalyptus trees, palm trees and carefully designed water features creates an enjoyable playing environment. Thanks to its excellent practice facilities, it is also a popular destination for golf training holidays.
Golf Les Dunes
Golf Les Dunes is located in a peaceful setting just outside Agadir and offers a varied course with wide fairways, technical holes and challenging greens. The course is suitable for golfers of all levels and is known for its excellent maintenance.
Golf on the Atlantic coast
In addition to Marrakech and Agadir, Morocco offers several attractive golf destinations along the Atlantic coast.
Mazagan Golf Club
Mazagan Golf Club is located directly beside the ocean and is one of North Africa’s most spectacular links-style courses. Designed by Gary Player, the course combines wide fairways with natural dunes, sea breezes and panoramic views. The wind often plays an important role here, making every round different.
Royal Golf Dar Es Salam
Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, located in Rabat, is one of Africa’s most prestigious golf complexes. The estate features several courses and regularly hosts international tournaments. The combination of wooded surroundings, technical holes and excellent facilities makes it a true benchmark within Morocco’s golf offering.
More than golf
What makes Morocco special is the way golf combines perfectly with culture and relaxation. Visit colourful medinas, explore traditional markets, taste the local cuisine or enjoy a hammam and wellness treatment after your round. Whether you choose a luxury resort in Marrakech, a relaxing stay on the coast near Agadir or a combination of several regions, Morocco offers a golf experience that uniquely brings together sport, comfort and culture.
For golfers looking for sunshine, variety and quality, Morocco is a destination that continues to surprise.
Personally designed golf holidays since 2004
Golf Direct was founded in 2004 by Hans van Lieshout.
Hans is a golfer himself and built the company around his passion for golf and travel. In the early years, he visited golf clubs and tournaments throughout Belgium. There, he spoke directly with golfers, organised group trips and distributed detailed travel brochures.
Today, much of the communication takes place by telephone and online. However, the personal approach has never disappeared. Hans regularly travels to golf destinations and international trade fairs. There, he meets representatives of hotels, golf courses and local partners. He not only considers prices, but also the quality of the rooms, the service, the location and the practical organisation. A hotel may look beautiful in photographs, but it must also be conveniently located for the golf courses you want to play. That is exactly where Golf Direct’s experience makes the difference.
“Because we are golfers ourselves, we understand what our customers mean.”
A hotel that suits your golf trip
Morocco offers a wide range of hotels. You can stay at a golf resort close to a course or choose a luxury hotel nearer the city centre or medina. Staying at a golf resort offers peace, tranquillity and short transfers. A centrally located hotel, on the other hand, gives you more opportunities to explore the city in the evening.
Golf Direct takes the following into account:
• the golf courses you want to play;
• your preferred hotel category;
• the distance to the city and the golf courses;
• your travelling party and budget;
• the available flight times and tee times.
You therefore receive a personal proposal rather than a standard list of hotels.
Good tee times are essential
A beautiful golf course is only truly valuable when you can play it at a suitable time. Every golf course has a limited number of tee times. Popular times are often booked quickly, especially during the busiest golf months.
Golf Direct therefore checks not only which courses are available, but also on which days and at what times you can actually play. An early tee time is ideal when you want to visit Marrakech after your round. Other golfers prefer a more relaxed start to the day and play later in the morning. When several rounds are included, the tee times must also be scheduled logically.
Early booking is particularly important for groups. The larger the party, the more difficult it becomes to arrange consecutive tee times for everyone.
Everything arranged in one trip
A golf trip consists of many separate elements. You need a flight, but you also need the correct baggage conditions for your golf equipment. The airport transfer or rental car, hotel, green fees and tee times must then all be booked.
When you book everything separately yourself, you are also responsible when one element changes. Is a flight cancelled? Your hotel reservation and tee times may no longer fit the revised schedule. Was your golf set not booked correctly? Then you must resolve the matter with the airline yourself.
With Golf Direct, you have one point of contact for the entire trip.
Hans and Chantal personally manage the reservations. Hans focuses on the destination, golf courses and hotels. Chantal takes care of administrative follow-up and invoicing, among other things. You therefore speak to someone who knows your booking.
Honest advice from experienced golfers
Golf Direct does not try to sell a particular trip at any cost. When a hotel is not good enough, a flight connection is inconvenient or a package is too expensive for what it offers, they will tell you honestly. Sometimes a different departure date is more attractive. Sometimes another hotel is better suited to the golf courses you want to play.
“We are prepared to say no when we believe a trip is not in the customer’s best interests.”
This approach means that many golfers book with Golf Direct again. The focus is not on the lowest price, but on the best balance between quality, comfort and the overall golf experience.
A quick tailor-made proposal
Every enquiry is assessed and calculated individually. Golf Direct first checks the possible flights and arrival times. Suitable hotels, transfers and golf courses are then selected. Next, available packages are compared with individually booked green fees. The cost of golf luggage and transport is also included. Based on this information, you receive a clear and personalised travel proposal.
Golf Direct aims to respond to every enquiry within 24 hours, even when several possibilities need to be investigated.
Personal assistance during your trip
Golf Direct remains involved after the booking has been completed. Do you have a question before departure about your golf luggage, hotel or tee time? You will not be directed to an anonymous helpdesk, but will speak to Hans or Chantal. You can also contact them during your trip in the event of an urgent problem.
A changed flight, delayed golf set or adjusted tee time can always occur. In such a situation, it is reassuring to have someone who immediately helps you find a solution. This personal availability provides peace of mind both before and during your holiday.
Playing golf and discovering Morocco
A golf holiday in Morocco does not have to revolve entirely around golf. After your round, you can relax beside the swimming pool or enjoy a treatment in a traditional hammam. In the evening, discover Moroccan cuisine in a riad, restaurant or atmospheric rooftop bar. The medina is a world of narrow streets, colourful shops and lively squares. The gardens, palaces and local markets are also well worth visiting.
Are you travelling with someone who does not play golf? They can explore the city during the day, book a wellness treatment or relax at the hotel.
Morocco is therefore suitable for couples, friends, golf groups and corporate trips.
The best time to play golf in Morocco
Morocco is particularly popular in spring, autumn and winter. When the weather in Belgium is cold and wet, conditions in Morocco are often much more pleasant. Temperatures are suitable for golf and for enjoying activities away from the course. It can become very hot in summer. Anyone travelling during this period should schedule their round early in the morning.
Availability and prices vary according to the season. The best tee times and hotel rooms also sell out quickly during popular periods. Booking early gives you more choice of flights, hotels and tee times. This is especially important for larger groups and trips that combine several golf courses.
