Golf Holidays in France
Golfing in France
La douce France is a wonderful country in every way. You can enjoy the sea, the beach, the mountains, the countryside, and beautiful natural surroundings. Culture is also abundant in France—churches, monasteries, castles... there's something for everyone. Fine cuisine and excellent wines complete your holiday experience.
Whether you're planning a city trip, a short break, or a longer stay, golf can easily be included. You can stay in one of the many châteaux with their own golf courses, often combined with visits to local wine cellars. Or take a scenic journey south in stages, staying in golf hotels along the way, and end your trip relaxing by the Mediterranean with sun and sand.
France boasts over 600 golf courses. No matter where you are in the country, you're never more than an hour's drive from a golf course. In 2018, the Ryder Cup was hosted near Paris, highlighting France as a top golf destination.
Climate in France
France has three main climate types. Most of the country experiences a temperate oceanic climate, with relatively mild winters, no extremely hot summers, and rainfall spread throughout the year. The French Alps, located in the southeast, have a high mountain climate characterized by relatively high precipitation, colder winters, and cooler summers.
Along the southeastern coast—from the Spanish border to the Italian border—you’ll find a Mediterranean climate. This region is known for its warm, dry summers and relatively mild winters. The eastern part of this coastal area, the Côte d'Azur, is the sunniest region in France. Other regions' levels of sunshine are often compared to this very sunny part of the country as a benchmark.
